Cookie Policy
Last updated 30 July 2026. This policy explains how Sister Sites UK uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you can control them under UK privacy law.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device when you visit. Cookies let a site remember your actions and preferences, measure how the site is used, and, in our case, attribute referrals when you click through to a gambling operator. We also use similar technologies such as pixels and local storage; where we say "cookies" in this policy, we mean all of these.
The law we follow
Our use of cookies is governed by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and, where cookies involve personal data, the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Under PECR we may set strictly necessary cookies without consent, but we must obtain your consent before setting any non-essential cookie — including analytics and affiliate-tracking cookies. We ask for that consent through the cookie banner shown on your first visit.
Categories of cookies we use
Strictly necessary cookies
These are required for the website to function and to remember your cookie choices. They keep the site secure, allow pages to load correctly, and store whether you have accepted or rejected other categories. Because the site cannot work properly without them, they do not require consent and cannot be switched off through our banner.
Analytics cookies
These help us understand how visitors use the site — which reviews and guides are read, how people arrive, and where the experience can be improved. We use this data in aggregated or pseudonymised form and never to identify you personally. Analytics cookies are only set after you consent, and you can withdraw consent at any time.
Affiliate-tracking cookies
When you click a tracked link to a UKGC-licensed operator, an affiliate cookie (usually set by our affiliate network or the operator) records that the referral came from Sister Sites UK, so that any commission is correctly attributed. These cookies do not change the price or terms of anything you sign up for, and they are only set with your consent. They may remain on your device for a defined period set by the affiliate network.
Third-party cookies
Some cookies are set by third parties rather than by us directly — for example our analytics provider, affiliate networks, and the licensed operators you click through to. We do not control third-party cookies, and once you leave this site and land on an operator's website, that operator's own cookie policy applies. We list the providers we work with in our Privacy Policy.
How to control cookies
- On this site — use the cookie banner on your first visit to accept or reject non-essential cookies, and change your choice at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.
- In your browser — all major browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site working.
- Analytics opt-out — you can decline analytics cookies in our banner, and many analytics providers also offer their own opt-out tools.
Guidance on managing cookies for popular browsers is available on each browser maker's help pages, and general advice is published by the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Consent and withdrawal
Your consent is not bundled: rejecting cookies is as easy as accepting them, and choosing "reject" does not stop you reading the site. If you withdraw consent, we stop setting the relevant cookies going forward; cookies already stored can be cleared through your browser.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our site or the law changes. The "last updated" date at the top shows the current version.
